Web Factory Reference Manual
Frames Menu
Available when the current file is a frame page previewed in Navigator.
Note: This menu allows you to design a frame page, which divides the user's Web browser into two or more sections that can each display a separate Web page. The frame page is a separate *.htm or *.html file which contains links to the Web pages that will display inside each frame. Frames are ideal, for one example, for keeping navigation buttons or icons on the screen at all times while the user views different Web pages on your Web site.
Because not all browsers support frames, the frame page can also contain a "no frames" tag, followed by text and elements that will display in such browsers in lieu of frames. If you open a frame page in Web Factory and select "View as Microsoft Internet Explorer" from the View menu, the no frames tag will be added to the Web page, and you can insert the text and elements that will display in this browser and others that do not support frames. Internet Explorer version 2.x does not support frames.
To create a frame page, see File menu, New, Frame Page.
To assign a Web page to be displayed in a frame, click inside the frame and select the "link to another Web page" option from the box. The Link Frame to Web Page box will appear, allowing you to select the URL (address) of the Web page to be displayed in the frame .
- Split Horizontally
- Splits the current frame into two horizontal frames. The current frame is outlined in red, and can be selected by using the arrow keys. Or, by clicking inside the frame, if a URL (Web page address) has been assigned to the frame. If not, the New Frame box appears, asking if you want to assign a URL to the frame, or split it further.
